A sad good bye to all our friends in Canada. After spending the night at Matt and Joan's, they took us out to a great brunch at John's Place, then dropped us off at the bus depot.
A few tears when we left, and the bus ride out to the ferry brought to mind all those thoughts of never seeing this or that again - the Walmart where Mel worked, the golf course where I played with Matt just a few weeks previously, the road to the Stewart's house - and how much we'll miss it. The beautiful place that is Vancouver Island - every road the scenic route, every corner a postcard - but more so the friends that had became family over the last 10 months. Stay strong, stay true everyone - our prayers will always be with you.
Because we had changed the dates on our round the world tickets, Paul had spent most of the morning trying to find out whether they would need to be re-issued, but because we had paper tickets (must have been one of the last) the best the airlines could come up with was to get to the airport early and go to the service counter and hope for the best (thanks guys!) So we got there about six hours early, and thank the Lord all they had to do was put stickers on our tickets with the new dates and all was well.
The photo is of a big aquarium in an area that they have just renovated in Vancouver airport (and Paul dropped the video camera in the little pond thing beside it - lucky it's water proof!!)
The flight left at 10pm and got into New York at about 6:30am Tuesday morning.
